Music For Cocktails is back for its hopefully lucky 13th edition. Following on from our recent Fashion Show and Metropolitan themed releases we decided to move things away from the big city and head off to the white island. This edition mixes up the Balearic-early-evening grooves that the island is famous for with jazzier grooves and soul jazz proceedings.
Things open up with Block 16 and the string laden ‘Find An Oasis’. Fellow Nuphonic label mates FUG on the mix. FUG also contribute their own their smouldering slow burning ‘Thin Air’. London based collective Sunharbour deliver us a tasty upfront exclusive with their soulful instrumentation in ‘The Treat’, in an era of laptop production their pure and real soundscape of brass, strings and smooth vocals making a firm impression. Chillout over lord Chris Coco makes a welcome appearance with the tabla jazz grooves in ‘Time To Love’. Marcel and Black Jazz Chronicles also contribute some sunset swing.
Just to mix things up a bit Slovenians Ichisan and Nakova turn in a slice of light hearted Yugo Disco with ‘To Je To’. Fellow Slovenian Sare Havlicek gives us some kitsch cocktail grooves with his special mix of the summer hit ‘White Russian’. Italian producers producer Bottin rounds things off with some flamenco jazz grooves. For those in the digital world we also feature an exclusive from Tokyo based UK born Max Essa with his sun-setting ‘Lamma Island 5am’.
Music for Cocktails returns post summer with further forays in our next instalment.
